Kaylee Payne is a violist, violinist, and pianist from King George, VA. She is currently a freshman at the University of Mary Washington where she is pursuing a double major in music and computer science. Kaylee grew up playing viola and violin in the Fredericksburg Area Young Musicians, the Youth Orchestras of Prince William, and AYPO. She has participated in Regional Orchestras on both viola and violin in high school, and she was 2014’s principal violist in the Virginia All-State Orchestra. Her teachers have included William Wassum, Ron Barricklow, Amy Shirk, and Jim George. She has had the opportunity to particpate in viola master classes with Roger Tapping of the Juilliard String Quartet and Sarah Hart of the U.S. Marine String Quartet. She is currently a student of Dr. Stephen Shmidt and Kristen Presley and plays with the University of Mary Washington Philharmonic, the UMW String Quartet, the Payne Quartet, and the Rappahannock POPS orchestra.
